    10 Fashion Mistakes for Men

    Socks and sandals

Baggy pants, wife beaters and sneakers with every outfit are just a few of the fashion faux pas that men fall victim to every day. Sure, some men could care less about their style and how they dress, but some of these looks are just disastrous. Here are 10 fashion mistakes for men:

    • Socks and sandals
Socks and sandals could be the worst possible look since shoulder pads, but for some reason men insist on pairing these two together. The purpose of sandals is to let your feet breathe, but wearing socks with sandals completely defeats this purpose. Whether it’s thong sandals and white socks or Birkenstocks and striped socks, this style is terrible however you wear it.
    • Obnoxious designer labels
Without naming any brand names, if you have t-shirts that say “Peace, Love and Tattoos” surrounded by serpents, daggers and huge crosses, you’d better throw it in the donation pile. There’s nothing subtle about flames and bejeweled tigers and it certainly doesn’t scream stylish.
    • Board shorts
Let’s clarify – board shorts are meant to be worn in the water, not to class, not to the gym and not out with friends. If there’s netted interior and a drawstring or Velcro closer, you’re wearing board shorts and you’d better head to the beach.
    • Novelty ties
Christmas trees, pumpkins or #1 Dad neckties are totally gag gift worthy, but they aren’t meant to be worn seriously. Unless you don’t mind being the laughing stock of the office, leave the novelty necktie at home.
    • Wrong socks with your suit
There’s nothing worse than seeing white, athletic socks peeking though when a man is wearing dress slacks or a suit. Socks should be dressy, long and the same color as your shoes.
    • Wearing undershirts as shirts
Undershirts are designed to absorb sweat, dirt and prevent male nipping. Unless you keep your undershirts as white as snow, leave it underneath your button-down.
    • Mismatched belt and shoes
Mismatched belt and shoes are a no-no for men. It’s pretty simple – if your shoes are brown your belt should be brown. You may not be able to get an exact match, but try to get it within the shade range.
    • Oversized clothing
Unless you’re a rapper or hip-hop artist, baggy pants and oversized t-shirts are unacceptable. This look is just plain silly and should be avoided at all costs.
    • Wrong pants length
The top of your pants should fit snug around your waist, not drooping on your bum. The bottom of your pants should hit above the ankle and not touch the ground. You’ll more than likely need to have your pants tailored to ensure a good fit.
    • Untailored suit
Unless you’re pretending to be Charlie Chaplin, men should never wear an untailored suit. Most men’s suits don’t fit perfectly and they need to be tailored here and there to give the right shape and fit to your body.
